AUSTIN (KXAN) — The temporary closure of a downtown Austin fire station has some people worried about response times.According to the Austin Firefighters Association, Fire Station 1 located on Fifth and Trinity streets closed suddenly after the building was condemned during construction.Both EMS and Austin Fire Department crews who work out of the station were moved to other stations around the city until the building is remodeled."It has three units in it," said Austin Firefighters Association President Bob Nicks. "It is the busiest unit in the city of Austin."Nicks said while the closure is just temporary, not having an operating station in the core of the city can impact response times all over."I can't emphasize how much — what a dangerous condition this is to have no units downtown in the 10th largest city in the nation," Nicks said. KILLEEN, Texas (FOX 44) - UPDATE: The Killeen Police Department and Texas Rangers are investigating a Friday morning officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.Killeen PD spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said it happened in the 900 block of Southside Drive. Officers got a call at 5:39 a.m. Friday about a stabbing at this location. Temple Police search for suspect in drive-by shooting When officers arrived, they found one stabbing victim lying in the street and another man on scene still armed with a knife. While the sequence of events is still under investigation, Miramontez said at one point a five-year veteran of the force fired his service weapon, striking the armed man.Both men were transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital. The armed man, identified initially only as a 38-year-old male subject, died from the wound received when he was shot. JONESBURG, Mo. -- Smoke from a scrap metal recycling center fire can be seen for miles. The center is located along I-70 around the 185-mile marker. Bommarito Automotive SkyFOX Helicopter captured images of firefighters working to put out the fire.Drivers can see the smoke rising high into the air. The fire does not seem to be slowing traffic in the area.It is not clear what started the fire. The recycling center owners say that there are no injuries associated with this fire. A group of thieves smashed a glass door and broke through a wall to burglarize a pharmacy in Van Nuys early Friday morning.At about 12:30 a.m., a group of two or three people wearing masks broke the glass door of a tax services company at 13745 Victory Blvd., then used a sledgehammer to smash through a wall and get into the neighboring pharmacy, a witness told the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by stringer service OnScene.TV.Footage from the scene shows drywall and boxes strewn about the entry point for the bandits.The burglars took merchandise from the pharmacy, though the exact amount has yet to be determined, and also rifled through office cabinets before fleeing in a red sedan.No further information was available.Sorry, Barbie: SAG-AFTRA issues Halloween costume rules amid strike

Stunning surveillance video shows the moment a vehicle crashed into the front of a tobacco store in Brea Thursday evening.The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. at Tobacco Buzz on West Imperial Highway.Video shows a BMW crash into the store, hitting two people and knocking down store shelves.The two people, a maintenance worker and a customer, were injured in the crash. A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy was seriously injured Thursday evening after they were injured by a vehicle driven by a fleeing burglary suspect.The incident unfolded around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Cynthia Street in West Hollywood.According to the Sheriff's Department, deputies from the West Hollywood station responded to a report of a burglary. Deputies eventually located the suspect's vehicle and a brief pursuit began.The injured deputy was standing beside his vehicle when the suspect hit him, slamming into the patrol car's door in the process, officials said.
